2. 1. 4. Limit for plastic content of insulation materials

The plastic content of products from mineral or renewable raw materials should be limited because:

• plastic is made from fossil resources;
• many resources are needed for the production of plastics, and their interim products may be problematic;
• plastic components make products difficult to dispose of;
• properties that have a positive effect on the indoor climate may be altered due to plastic components;
• the positive ecological properties of products from renewable raw materials may be lost, when compared to plastic products.
  

The plastic content of insulation materials from mineral or renewable raw materials, fibreboard sheathing (vapour barriers, separation layers, wind barriers, etc.) must not exceed 15% by weight.
