2. 2. 10. Ban of substances that are dangerous to health

The health hazards resulting from constituents of coatings include acute toxic effects (classified as very toxic, toxic, corrosive or irritant) and chronic toxic effects. In the case of chronic toxic effects, the focus of prevention measures is on avoiding CMR substances and substances causing sensitisation (allergies).

The following substances are inadmissible as constituents of coating formulations:

• phthalic acid esters (phthalates) (Impurities up to a content of 700ppm are tolerable)
• 2-butoxyethyl acetate (CAS 112-07-2)
• diethyleneglycol methyl ether (CAS 111-77-3)
• ethyleneglycol dimethyl ether (CAS 110-71-4)
• triethyleneglycol dimethyl ether (CAS 112-49-2)
