2. 4. 3. Limit for organohalogen compounds in flooring and adhesive work

Products made from organohalogen compounds should be avoided due to numerous ecological disadvantages during the production cycle as well as for disposal and recycling. A position paper by the City of Vienna on this issue (particularly regarding PVC) is available at http://www.oekokauf.wien.at (in German).

For the following products, the maximum admissible content of organohalogen compounds is 1% by weight:

• elastic flooring
• textile flooring
• elastic skirting
• covering materials
• adhesives.

All products awarded one of the following eco labels meet these criteria:

• natureplus quality label
• Österreichisches Umweltzeichen (Austrian eco label)
• Blauer Engel/Blue Angel.
