BIM.pi & baubook – Working together for sustainability in the construction industry

BIM.pi is an online platform developed by BIMphysics GmbH (a subsidiary of Kurz und Fischer GmbH). Created by experienced DGNB auditors with practical expertise, it helps users to systematically assess, approve and document building products in certification projects – from selection through to comprehensive verification and as-built documentation. In daily use since 2019, BIM.pi clearly presents the requirements of leading certification systems such as DGNB, QNG, BNB, LEED and the EU Taxonomy for construction products. This is complemented by clear explanations and practical guidance that facilitate the reliable implementation of the criteria.

The API interface with baubook
Searching for sustainability documentation for construction products is often time-consuming and involves a significant amount of work, particularly for contractors and sustainability consultants. BIM.pi establishes a direct link here: for every construction product recognised, a link to the corresponding baubook entry is automatically provided. In future, there are plans to enable the direct import of supporting documents and further information without the need for a manual intermediate step. This gives project stakeholders, auditors and certification bodies direct access to all relevant sustainability information – exactly where it is needed within the project.

The collaboration between baubook and BIM.pi is far more than a technical integration. It reflects a shared understanding: sustainability in the construction industry can only succeed if information is reliable, up to date and accessible to all stakeholders. The interface reduces barriers in the verification process – and makes it a little easier to make sustainable decisions the norm. We are proud that, through our partnership, we are jointly setting standards for the digital future of sustainable construction.
